Allied Telesis Launches New Portfolio of Gigabit Fiber iMG ONTs at FTTH 2011

Allied Telesis Enhances its intelligent Multiservice Gateway (iMG) Product Line with New Outdoor and Indoor Products, Supported by its MEF-certified integrated Multiservice Access Platform (iMAP) and SwitchBlade™ x3112 Carrier Access Solutions

(FTTH Conference and Expo; Booth #514) Orlando, FL – September 27, 2011 — Allied Telesis, global provider of IP/Ethernet access solutions for network service provider, enterprise, and government networks, launches four (4) new Gigabit iMG FTTx gateway products, available for immediate ordering. The new outdoor and indoor iMGs are introduced in response to strong customer demand for enhanced features such as IPv6 migration, as well as improved economic performance. All four new models address the rapid market adoption of Gigabit speeds for fiber-to-the-home services.

Two new outdoor gateways, the AT-iMG2524 and AT-iMG2504, combine integrated triple play and wire-speed L2 and L3 functionality. Designed for easy outdoor installation, temperature-hardened electronics modules mount in several models of environmental enclosures with fiber trays. The AT-iMG2524 has a 1000BX (Gigabit) single fiber bi-directional interface, four (4) 10/100/1000TX LAN ports, and two (2) FXS voice ports. It is optimized for delivering IP Triple Play services in residential applications. The AT-iMG2504 is the same form factor as the AT-iMG2524, minus the FXS voice ports. It fills a growing demand for applications requiring a small and cost-effective hardened industrial switch for data connectivity, such as utility, transportation and government networks.

The new indoor FTTx products, the AT-iMG1525 and 1505, use the very popular Allied Telesis two-piece indoor gateway design with multiple mounting options and deployed for years by service providers worldwide in the Allied Telesis iMG6x6 Series of products. Both products offer an auto-sensing 100/1000 bi-directional fiber WAN interface and USB host port. The AT-iMG1525 features five (5) 10/100/1000TX LAN ports and two (2) FXS voice ports. The AT-iMG1505 is identical, with the exception of FXS voice ports. The AT-iMG1505 is ideal for residential, small business and other applications where a small, economic five-port switch solution is needed for data services.

“The new Allied Telesis iMGs leverage the many years of maturity of the iMG software supporting IP Triple Play services. As the latest of several generations of iMGs, Allied Telesis extends its commitment to provide customers with the most advanced features and capabilities while offering continuous price/performance improvement,” comments Christopher Cotter, director of product management for Allied Telesis. “Our line of iMG gateways and carrier access solutions uniquely addresses the needs of Gigabit point-to-point FTTx services worldwide, in which we have enjoyed a very strong market leadership position.”

The new line of iMGs will be featured at the FTTH show with Allied Telesis iMAP 9810 and SwitchBlade x3112 carrier-class access platforms. Both platforms support a variety of FTTx applications, including 10G, 1G and 100Mbps point-to-point active fiber solutions. Both platforms have been tested and certified for MEF 9 and 14 compliance, using the iMGs on the terminal side. Additionally, the new line of iMGs, along with the iMAP and SwitchBlade x3112 access platforms feature operating software designed to be IPv6 ready. Allied Telesis will be rolling out a series of IPv6 features in software releases during 2012.

Allied Telesis continues to offer its widely deployed iMG 726/746 MOD Series that supports HPNAv3, along with the AT-iMG726BD-ON non-modular version introduced earlier this year. Likewise, the indoor iMG6x6 Series of 100 Mbps devices continues to occupy a key position in the Allied Telesis gateway portfolio.
